Confidential is Hiring a CNC Programmer/Operator Near Clearwater, FL

The dual CNC Programmer/Set-up Operator and Estimator is responsible for the effective use & utilization of Mastercam, PartMaker, Fusion 360 software to transfer customer supplied or internally generated 3D files into CNC machining programs. These programs are utilized to produce precision components. Candidate must have knowledge of precision and complex machining of aerospace components and assemblies. Candidate will be expected to set-up CNC machines as a function of this role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates programs using one of 3 available software types, runs simulation to verify toolpath is correct & matches the print or 3D file.
  • Must be able to formulate an estimate from blueprint drawings which would include breaking down fabrications in a bill of material and calculating man hours to fabricate & machine parts
  • Must be able to read and interpret Mechanical Engineering drawings & specifications.
  • Designs tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured internally.
  • Reviews customer drawings and determines what, if any special tooling is required.
  • Prepares specifications and technical plans.
  • Performs data analysis and validation studies.
  • Reviews project work for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Performs general manufacturing tasks as needed to support team including but not limited to: CNC machine loading/unloading, cutting bar stock with saw,
  • Prior Manual or CNC machining is preferred.
  • Maintains specifications by observing machine operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by scanning/completing Travelers, Quality logs and other forms as needed.
  • Operates CNC Machining Center using controls to adjust feeds and/or speeds in order to achieve maximum operating efficiencies and quality of workmanship.
  • Verifies dimensions of machined parts, components and product using precision measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, fixed gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Reports defective or inadequate tooling and machine problems to Lead or direct Supervisor.
  • Maintains cleanliness of machine and machining area.
  • May perform regular maintenance of machining centers and/or complete weekly maintenance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years’ hands-on experience in the CNC Machining Industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Technical school preferred
  • Candidates must have the ability to program using Cad/Cam software such as PartMaker, Fusion 360, and Mastercam.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with both Fanuc and Mazatrol systems.
  • Must be able to formulate an estimate from blueprint drawings which would include breaking down fabrications in a bill of material and calculating man hours to fabricate & machine parts
  • Must be able to read and interpret Mechanical Engineering drawings & specifications.
  • CNC Mill and Lathe experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with reading/understanding prints/3D files/manufacturing codes.
  • Some experience with twin spindle machines is desired
  • Ability to use common inspection measurement tools: Calipers, Micrometers, Gage Blocks, Gage Pins, Bore Gages, Optical Comparator, CMM, Cadillac Gage, Height Gage.
  • Able to consistently meet deadlines required by RFQ demand while working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Customer service driven.
  • Mathematical skills with the ability to perform basic calculations accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to deal with customers and factory representatives to obtain pricing information and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform relevant engineering tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
  • Ability to effectively research independently.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Able to work collectively.
  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Team player comfortable with sharing information and collaborating with and supporting colleagues in completing large-scale projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
