About the Role

The Associate VP & Chief Compliance Officer at The Company is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution of the university's compliance strategy. This includes providing day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight for compliance activities across the institution. The role involves integrating compliance activities through the Office of Ethics and Compliance to support the university's vision, mission, and values. The AVP/CCO plays a critical role in fostering a culture of compliance, integrity, and ethical conduct, and is tasked with building relationships and fostering collaboration across departments and business units. The position also involves supervising the University's privacy officer, serving as a leader in implementing compliance and ethics programs, and coordinating compliance management committees.Candidates for this role must have an advanced degree and at least 10 years of compliance-related experience, with a JD being preferred. A working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations impacting higher education is essential, as is experience working in or leading an in-house compliance function. Certifications such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) and/or Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) are highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education and/or academic medical center settings, and must demonstrate strong compliance expertise, the ability to quickly learn new regulatory topics, and the capacity to foster a collaborative compliance culture. The role requires excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to empower staff and connect compliance activities to the university's mission and objectives.
