About the Role
This role is hybrid and the work week is 35 hours. The Museum is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director, Engineering on the Digital Products team in the External Affairs department.The digital products span many touch points that are both customer and employee facing. These include the website, in-gallery digital experiences and signage, online ticketing, content management systems, and more.Responsibilities:Lead a team of engineers to deliver scalable software solutions across our platforms that delight our users and advance the mission.Work closely with a team of product managers and designers to deliver on our product roadmap based on an outcome-oriented 3-5 year strategic plan.Ensure that all features fit seamlessly into the digital ecosystem and are built to evolve with the changing needs of the Museum, its audience and its internal clients.Reports to the Director of Digital Products.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years relevant experience as an Engineer. Minimum 5 years as an Engineering Lead or Engineering manager with experience hiring and managing small teams of creative developers, mentoring teams, overseeing multiple scrum teams, building collaborative and innovative cultures.Experience working closely with product designers, UX researchers, and product managers. Experience navigating legacy codebases and the ability to identify and prioritize technical debt and modernize where necessary.Comfortable guiding architecture decisions at all tiers of an MVC-style web application.Experience establishing and enforcing technical standards.Proven ability to work across complex organizations to achieve strategic goals. Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations and deliverables.Strong communication and presentation skills.Experience managing projects using agile scrum methodology.Experience with the following technologies a plus: Kubernetes/containerization, Google Cloud Platform, Go, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Vue.js, Atomic or Tailwind CSS, data modeling and query optimization, Heap..Data warehouse experience a plus.Interest in modern and contemporary art.
