DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The City of Houston Human Resources HR Operations Division is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, customer focused, and technologically savvy Shared Services Specialist. The Shared Services Specialist will work collaboratively within the HR Client Relations Division to provide superior Human Resources services to the Houston Fire Department.
The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for the following:
Assists with the preparation and processing of Classified and Municipal personnel actions via HROne SuccessFactors - Employee Central (EC).
Reviews logs, error reports, and tracks Classified and Municipal personnel actions in EC ensuring a successful and timely upload.
Serves as back up support to the Fire Department's Drug Test Coordinator and monitors the Alere Datalink system.
Assists with the management of the Fire Department's Employment Performance Evaluations (EPE Process) for classified employees.
May assist in other areas such as Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and may perform other duties as assigned essential to the efficient operation of the team and participate on special projects as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of related professional experience in Human Resources is required.
Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis

PREFERENCES
The preferred candidate for the Human Resources Department must demonstrate leadership potential, be customer focused, and possess excellent problem solving, organizational, communication and people skills. Strong presentation skills and knowledge of Microsoft office as well as SAP is preferred.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
