Job purpose
A Chemist Research Associate is responsible for assisting Research Chemists with conducting laboratory experiments on research projects. As a Research Associate, you usually work in a lab gathering and analyzing samples, conducting tests and experiments, and recording results. Research Associates must also be able to keep up with current methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research. Company specializes developing and manufacturing innovative medical tests.
Duties and responsibilities
The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below-mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
Working as part of a team in a research laboratory.
Collaborating with other researchers to meet research goals and deadlines.
Setting up laboratory equipment and conducting tests and experiments.
Recording and analyzing data.
Presenting results and findings to colleagues, managers, and/or clients.
Ability to summarize findings in a clear and concise manner.
Managing research or technical projects from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met.
Researching and writing papers, reports, and reviews.
Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
Order, transfer, and stock laboratory supplies and materials as directed.
Carry out functions that may require multiple task coordination.
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.
Qualifications
BA or BS degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences; or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing laboratory.
Knowledge of laboratory practice, procedures, techniques, instruments, and equipment.
Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting in a laboratory environment.
Working knowledge of laboratory safety.
Superior creative and analytical thinking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication and time management skills.
Must have chemical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
Basic algebraic, statistical, and mathematical skills.
Proficient in computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
