Middle School Teacher
(2024 - 2025 School Year)
Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School
Brooklyn, New York
What is the Role?
Middle school teachers guide students through some of the most formative years of their lives and provide them with the knowledge and skills they’ll need for high school and beyond. Our teachers specialize in content areas such as social studies, STEM, ELA, special education, or electives. Through a block schedule our teachers are able to focus on instructing one grade for about three and a half hours each day. This allows them the time to develop a smaller number of high quality lessons than if they were teaching multiple grades and subjects. In the remaining time, teachers have the opportunity to prepare lessons, grade papers, and communicate with families. Our PRIDE values - Perseverance, Respect, Intellect and Ingenuity, Determination, Empathy - are not only decorated throughout the halls, but are what we encourage in our scholars and uphold for each other. If our PRIDE values resonate with you, join us!

Commitment to Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
Coney Island Prep is committed to building a team that collectively reflects the various backgrounds, experiences, and identities of our scholars. We recognize and respond to different points of access, so that everyone maximizes their highest potential. We also recognize that because of institutionalized racism and systemic oppression, historically marginalized groups are at a disadvantage when it comes to most application and hiring processes. We want to ensure that all candidates, regardless of their identity, are able to demonstrate their qualifications and are not limited by a lack of opportunity or access. We are committed to creating a space where everyone’s identity is acknowledged, respected, and welcomed. We are intentional about creating an environment where people feel comfortable being their authentic selves at work by constantly examining our organization culture and challenging our traditions.
