Job Summary/Objective

The National Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales on a nationwide scale, developing, and maintaining relationships with key clients, and achieving revenue targets. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, and effective communication to promote our products/services. The National Sales Rep will collaborate with internal teams, identify new business opportunities, and ensure consistent growth across diverse markets.

Essential Functions/Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prospecting:
  • Identify potential clients and businesses through market research.
  • Generate leads through various channels such as cold calling, networking, and online research.
  • Account Management:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients to understand their needs.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to showcase and educate clients on our services and products.
  • Work directly with customers, explaining the benefits and features of products, services, and completing sales.
  • Sales:
  • Identifying customers’ needs, pitching relevant products, or services and ensuring they have a positive experience from start to finish.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals to achieve sales targets.
  • Market Analysis:
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Provide feedback to the company on market conditions and customer needs.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare sales contracts and agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with marketing, product, and customer support teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Travel:
  • Travel to meet clients, attend industry events, and explore new markets.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience in sales and lead generation.
  • Must possess a valid Iowa driver's license (CDL not required).
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
  • Must be willing to learn and work independently after training.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage daily responsibilities effectively.
  • Display a high level of attention to detail when drafting contracts and reviewing documents to avoid errors.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with team members and other departments.

Experience (preferred)

  • 2 or more years of experience in sales or underground utility or telecom industry.
  • Proficiency in software and tools, such as ODOO, Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software and other internet applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position is able to work a hybrid schedule. The National Sales Rep may occasionally need to adapt to changing work demands, such as handling urgent client requests, participating in team meetings, attending in-person client meetings, and attending trade shows.

While this position primarily involves office-based tasks, the National Sales rep should be prepared to engage in a variety of activities that require physical effort and mobility:

  • Sitting: A significant portion of the workday involves sitting at a desk while using a computer, handling paperwork, and communicating with clients and co-workers.
  • Standing and Walking: Some tasks, such as attending meetings or Tradeshows, interacting with colleagues, and moving within the office space, may involve standing and walking.
  • Typing and Writing: This position requires frequent typing, data entry, and documentation.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally, the National Sales Rep may need to lift and carry material samples, documents, and supplies, generally weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Telephone and Communication: This position involves significant telephone communication with clients, and team members, requiring clear and effective verbal communication.
  • Visual and Auditory Abilities: The ability to read documents, and view computer screens for extended periods is necessary. Good auditory skills are essential for effective communication via telephone and in-person conversations.
  • Multitasking and Time Management: This position often involves managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing time effectively to meet client needs and deadlines.
