The Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) Coordinator is responsible for bringing awareness to mental health and substance use challenges by promoting, coordinating, and conducting Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to individuals in the Concho Valley. The MHAT Coordinator is responsible for successful completion of Adult and Youth MHFA trainer courses and maintaining MHFA certifications. The MHAT Coordinator will work closely with the MHFA Coordinator/Outreach Worker for expanding the current MHFA program within MHMRCV. This coordination will include constant communication, tracking of classes, outreach, trainer certifications, etc. The MHAT Coordinator will develop a marketing, outreach, and training plan to reach local schools (public and private), families of teenage youth, higher education, service member and their families, veterans, law enforcement, emergency services personnel, community agencies and the general public.

MHAT Coordinator must consistently demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse population of individuals. MHAT Coordinator must consistently reflect a positive image which supports the positive image of MHMRCV. The MHAT Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate the MHFA plan.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 1 year experience in behavioral health community outreach or education preferred.
  • Experience in marketing or customer service preferred.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain certification including additional modules in MHFA curriculum (Adult/Youth/Teen).

ESSENTIAL TASKS

  • Public speaking in small or large groups.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies, military community, first responders, local and private schools.
  • Teach and coordinate Mental Health First Aid Trainings
  • Coordinates special projects related to MHFA as assigned.
  • Must be able to translate and speak Spanish. MHFA trainings will be conducted in Spanish.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Texas Driver License required.
  • Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to complete all MHMR Concho Valley training.

SHIFT HOURS

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (could be flexible due to position, may require some early mornings, late evenings, and weekends).
