Overview: As a Human Resources/Scheduling Manager in the long-term care industry, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of human resources and scheduling activities within our facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified staff members while also managing the scheduling process to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times to provide exceptional care to our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Hiring:

    • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for various positions within the facility.

    • Conduct interviews, assess candidate qualifications, and make hiring recommendations to department heads.

    • Collaborate with department managers to identify staffing needs and plan for future hiring requirements.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations throughout the hiring process.

  • Onboarding and Orientation:

    • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including the completion of required paperwork, orientation sessions, and training programs.

    • Coordinate with department supervisors to ensure new employees receive appropriate training and support to succeed in their roles.

    • Serve as a point of contact for new employees, addressing any questions or concerns related to their employment.

  • Staff Scheduling:

    • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

    • Monitor staffing levels and make adjustments as needed to accommodate changes in resident needs or staff availability.

    • Address scheduling conflicts and communicate changes to affected employees in a timely manner.

    • Utilize scheduling software or other tools to optimize staffing efficiency and minimize overtime costs.

  • Performance Management:

    • Establish performance goals and expectations for staff members in collaboration with department managers.

    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees to support their professional development.

    • Address performance issues and implement corrective action plans when necessary, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Employee Relations:

    • Serve as a resource for employees regarding workplace policies, benefits, and procedures.

    • Address employee concerns or grievances in a fair and timely manner, seeking resolution through mediation or escalation as appropriate.

    • Promote a positive work environment by fostering open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect among staff members.

  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records related to employee attendance, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing employment practices, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination laws, and safety regulations.

    • Prepare reports and documentation as required for internal audits or regulatory inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in human resources management and scheduling, in a long-term care or healthcare setting.

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance in all HR activities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including HRIS software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions to complex issues.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all HR-related matters.
