Job Title: Heavy Civil Estimator - Earth Retention, Shoring, Foundations.

Job Type: Full-time direct hire.

Job Location: Phoenix, AZ (On-site).

About The Client:

  • The Client is a specialty civil contractor serving the construction industry since 1965 providing many civil related contracting services involving earthwork, trucking, dirt brokering, aggregates, shoring, shotcrete, crushing, recycling, foundation drilling and residential and commercial concrete.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform or coordinate quantity take-offs, cost estimates and analyse alternate construction methods.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Determine self-perform versus subcontract work.
  • Solicit appropriate vendors and suppliers for estimates.
  • Solicit DBE / SBE subcontractors as required.
  • Review plans, specifications and Geotech reports.
  • Develop thorough, timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents.
  • Participate in planning meetings to determine Projects to bid and establish bidding strategies.
  • Participate in bid reviews with the Estimating Manager.
  • Review preliminary schedule and transfer estimate related information to the Project Team after award.
  • Identify high-risk activities and incorporate safety associated costs into estimates.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of construction experience, preferably in commercial earth retention, shoring systems, deep foundations and ground improvement projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating and bidding heavy civil work.
  • HCSS / B2W software experience preferred.
  • Experience with AGTEK, OST, AutoCAD, Revit and Trimble Business Center preferred.
  • Experience with P6, Asta, or other equivalent scheduling software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Project, Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand plans for grading and drainage, paving, foundations and offsite roadways.
  • Ability to perform clear, detailed quantity takeoffs.
  • Understanding of heavy equipment performance specifications.
  • Demonstrated decision making skills.
  • Ability to work in high production environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Planning, Negotiation.
  • Special experience consideration for Veterans.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
