CommUnityCare Health Centers is Hiring an Area Health Education Center Coordinator Near Austin, TX

Overview

Responsible for the coordination, operations and program plan implementation of the Texas Area Health Education Center (AHEC) East‐Capital Region. AHEC East‐Capital Region is a one of the eight centers of AHEC‐East and focused on Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Lee, Travis and Williamson counties. AHEC Coordinator will help in providing unique experience to students, creating pipeline in health careers and create educational programs to help health literacy and preventive health.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate Texas AHEC East (TAE)‐ Capital Region budget and funding to support Texas AHEC East (TAE) program office in the preparation of funding requests and grant proposals.
  • Assist in developing annual budget and work plans consistent with the goals and objectives of TAE and ensure that all expenditures are made in accordance with federal and state regulations, and the policy directives of
  • UTMB and CUC.
  • Coordinate the TAE-Capital Region Advisory Board; provide training for role and responsibilities of members; and support the administrative needs of the board.
  • Coordinate the TAE-Capital Region, consistent with contract requirements of The University of Texas Medical
  • Branch (UTMB) at Galveston, to address community health workforce and community health system issues across the seven county Capital Region.
  • Build community relationships by serving on local community organization board and represent TAE-Capital
  • Region and conduct community outreach activities.
  • Assist in researching and developing funding opportunities for the center operations in alignment with mission and objectives of TAE.
  • Prepare progress and financial reports of the activities of TAE-Capital Region to funding entities—Program Office;
  • Advisory Board, Host institution.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating activities which support TAE program objectives in the areas of:
  • Health Careers Promotion and Preparation; Community-Based Student Education; Practice Entry and Support;
  • Health Literacy; Community Health Systems; Community Health Worker Training and Outreach.
  • Participate and support the program office in development, implementation, and evaluation of AHEC Scholars program.
  • Identify potential preceptors and rotation sites and coordinate clinical community-based rotations for a variety of health profession students in designated underserved areas or populations and maintain relationships.
  • Collect and maintain data relevant to HRSA program requirements including educational institutions, primary care providers, community preceptors, and students.
  • Establishes effective working relationships and partnerships with health care providers, health systems/clinics, state departments, health centers, federal agencies, secondary schools, colleges and universities, businesses, government entities, and community organizations to enhance the understanding of the AHEC mission, implementation of AHEC programs, and attainment of goals.

  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
  • Ability to work independently

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Experience: Three years of relevant experience

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License with proof of insurance and reliable transportation needed for local Austin area travel. Upon Hire
