General Notes

The Quality Improvement Coordinator will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nursing staff, administrators and clinical outcomes specialists within the Health Transformation and Design (HTD) Program with a goal of increasing efficiency in the Heart Center through various improvement projects and initiatives.

The primary objective of this position is to support the patient safety and quality initiatives of the Heart Center by proactively reviewing and developing the project plans for quality improvement projects within the Heart Center clinical setting. This position will also provide administrative support for the quality improvement mission.

The Quality Improvement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in collecting, analyzing, and improving outcomes of our patients with congenital heart disease treated at the TCPCHD alongside our clinical staff. This person will work closely with the expanding TCPCHD quality improvement group, currently consisting of a Medical Director and Quality Improvement Specialist, in addition to HTD Outcome Specialists.

This position will primarily work on-site daily (M-F).

Responsibilities

* Collaboration with several entities relating to the TCPCHD program, including HTD leadership, including the Patient Safety and Quality Medical Director, Quality Improvement Specialist, HTD Data Outcomes Specialists, TCPCHD clinical providers, including cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac intensivists, anesthesiologists, applicable nursing, DCMC Patient Safety and Quality Officers and Coordinators.

* Project management for standing and novel TCPCHD quality improvement initiatives, including: Maintenance of current and future initiatives, Management of serial project meetings and follow-up information, and Collection and analysis of baseline and longitudinal data/metrics.

* Preparation for Quality Assurance meetings including Management of invitations to speakers and guests, Developing and distributing agendas, attachments, and minutes

* Maintenance of TCPCHD quality improvement metrics over time

* Assist in clinical outcomes processes as needed to complete quality improvement duties which may consist of data abstraction and development of action items from a variety of meetings.

* Support investigators by submitting protocols to the IRB for retrospective reviews or QI projects

* Assists Quality Director and Quality Improvement Specialist in clinical practice guidelines (i.e. process improvement)

* Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors of Science Nursing with 3-5 years of clinical experience (or commensurate relevant background). Quality Improvement experience and demonstrated experience with quality improvement initiatives. Quality Improvement certification or to be obtained within 2 years of starting the position. Strong critical thinking skills, self-direction and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience with working in EMR, analyzing clinical data, creating and presenting of data quality reports with preparing graphs/reports based on outcomes data for leadership. High computer proficiency, including the basic MS Office suite (specifically, MS Excel), database software and project management tools. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's of Science in Nursing with Quality Improvement implementation experience in a hospital setting. Experience with design and management of clinical databases, registries, and quality improvement projects. Clinical experience in congenital heart disease. Demonstrated ability to manage clinical responsibilities and administrative duties with a clinical focus. Project management experience (ie Lean Six Sigma). Familiarity with congenital heart disease registries (ie. STS, IMPACT, PC4, PAC3) and statistical reporting knowledge and data visualization software. Special interest in database management and knowledge of clinical informatics and/or data analytics and statistical analysis. Expertise in quality data/benchmarking, and improvement strategies. Ability to utilize resources effectively or identify resources to generate solutions.

Salary Range

$80,000 depending on qualifications
