Community Youth Services is Hiring a Psychiatric Medication Provider Near Olympia, WA

Community Youth Services is recruiting for Psychiatric Medication Provider, providing in-person and/or telehealth with a monthly onsite visit. This position works with a treatment team that provides Intensive Outpatient Services to adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 years in Thurston and Mason counties. Each participant in the Intensive Outpatient Program receives 24/7 crisis support from a team of therapists. CYS Behavioral Health Programs provide co-occurring treatment and are moving towards a medical integration model to provide whole-person care. This position provides outpatient psychiatric services, including staff consultation, psychiatric diagnostic medication evaluations, medication management, and psychoeducation for participants in the behavioral health programs.

The position will work closely on an integrated team with therapists, wraparound care coordinators, and peer counselors in alignment with the principles of our Evidence and Research-Based Practice models as well as agency best practices such as Trauma-Informed Care and Positive Youth Development. This position will work with a diverse youth population and their families in alignment with a youth/family-driven treatment, harm-reduction, prevention-focused, and holistic care philosophy. This position can allow for a combination of virtual and in-person services to be provided (with a preference for in-person).

Pay range of $100,000 to $120,000 DOE (Exempt) This position is part-time (24 hours a week) and will provide services in-person and virtually.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate degree or higher in Nursing with a focus in psychiatry (for ARNP), or Doctor of Medicine or other applicable degree (for MD/Psychiatrist).
  • Washington State licensure as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority, or as an Physician (MD) with psychiatric focus.
  • Board Certified Registered Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Specialist with specialization in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance Registration Certificate and necessary certificates/working agreements for prescribing schedule II-V drugs, as well as NPI prescriptive ability.
  • Ability to be reimbursed for services by Medicare and Medicaid is required.
  • Two Years psychiatric nursing experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Experience working with adolescents with behavioral issues in multiple domains, complex mental health needs, and co-occurring substance use disorders, as well as high-risk populations such as homeless youth and psychosis. Experience and/or knowledge of cultural issues related to marginalized youth and young adults.
  • Proficiency with technology needed to carry out duties and coordinate with team members, including but not limited to Telehealth technology, Electronic Health Record systems, Microsoft Office, the internet, and the intranet, is also required.
  • Proficiency in SERI Medicaid billing codes and standards.
  • Completion of accredited psychiatric residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.

Preferred qualifications:

  • At least five years strong psychiatric mental health experience.
  • At least one year as an advance practice psychiatric-mental health nurse.
  • Ability to provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).

Agency Qualifications:

  1. The ability to pass an extensive background check with no history of conviction or perpetration of child abuse or physical harm to a child or children or an individual aged 18 years and above who is or may be unable to take care of themselves or is unable to protect themselves against harm or exploitation by reason of age, illness, trauma or disability, or any other reason.
  2. Professional and personal conduct that maintains a personal and professional background so that criminal history remains free from unlawful conduct. Certain crimes may disqualify employees to have unrestricted access to children or vulnerable populations in accordance with Department of Social Health and Services policy and Washington State law. Professional or personal conduct that causes this clearance to be suspended or denied will result in suspension and/or termination of employment. (Pursuant to RCW 43.43.832, 43.43.832(7), 43.43.834, 43.20A.710 and WAC 388-06.).
  3. A valid Washington State Driver License with a minimum of five years’ driving experience and a three-year good driving record evidenced on a Washington driver’s abstract. The ability to pass and maintain a clean driving records check at employment and annually. Professional or personal conduct that results in a restricted or denied driving status could result in termination of employment. (Candidates relocating to the area must provide current proof of three-year driving record from current state; and have ten days from date of employment to provide a copy of a Washington Driver’s License and Washington driver’s abstract.).
  4. Proof of personal auto insurance levels provided on your insurance declaration page. Coverage must be current, and copies provided to HR at renewal. Coverages at or above $100,000 combined single limit is required for positions that require driving and is recommended and preferred for positions that have occasional driving.
  5. A sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences in the organization's employment and service population.
  1. Must possess or obtain within 30 days of employment CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen certification. Some positions require CPR before a first shift.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.

Major Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

  1. Partner with clinical care team and external providers to provide collaborative care to ICD participants, including partnering with emergency room and inpatient providers as necessary.
  2. Meet participants where they are at by providing trauma-informed, inclusive care under a harm-reduction model.
  3. Carry caseload of approximately 45-60 participants, all of whom have a behavioral health care team at CYS.
  4. Provide training to other clinical staff on topics specific to scope of practice (i.e. medication interactions, psychopharmacology, etc).
  5. Utilize Electronic Health Record System (Evolv) in accordance with agency and Medicaid documentation standards.
  6. Follow all federal regulations for prescribe controlled substances through Medicaid.
  7. Coordinate any necessary lab orders with Integrated Health Specialist.
  8. Oversee Medical Assistant and potential ARNP students.
  9. Collaborate closely with Executive Clinical Director and clinical leadership to provide whole person, participant-centered care.
  10. Attend treatment team meetings as needed to collaborate with other care providers, including participant Wraparound Meetings or staffings.
