Community Teamwork is Hiring a Lead Youth Advocate Near LOWELL, MA

The Lead Youth Advocate will support all efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of youth, staff and the program. The Youth Advocate will provide interventions to assist members in feeling safe, promote a safe environment for youth to seek help and access resources with limited barriers.

Youth Advisory Board

  • Supervise and Lead Youth Advocate team
  • Identify and engage youth, with targeted efforts to empower leaders.
  • Support in Planning and Implementation of Youth Advisory Board initiatives within Federal, State and local guidelines Lead Youth Advisory board meetings and sub-committees with the guidance of the YAB and its constituents.
  • Oversee sub-committees and focus groups for YAB.
  • Support in the development of YAB agendas; co-facilitate meetings as scheduled.
  • Track and report progress to funders through data collection; utilize monitoring systems such as HMIS
  • Advocating and relaying the needs/intentions of the Youth Advisory Board to support program growth and development.
  • Collaborate with Youth Advisory Boards from across the state
  • Create quarterly and annual program plan for the YAB and engagement that reflects the goals of YAB leadership.
  • Operate from an equity based, anti-racist, anti- adultism perspective. Anti-discriminatory lens.
  • Work with all vulnerable populations including the BIPOC LGBTQ community, Survivors of Sexual Trafficking and domestic violence.
  • Local travel of up to 25%
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Mill You

  • Support in over-sight of Mill You program according to schedule.
  • Support young people participating in Youth Opportunity Center programming connected to Youth Services programs and services.
  • Collaborate with Case Management team in order to coordinate care or reflect needs of Young Adults accessing the space.
  • Complete tasks related to upkeep and maintenance of Mill You space, including “opening” and “closing” of Mill You hours, as well as general organization.
  • Engage with community partners and participate in community outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with partners to raise awareness about Homeless Youth Services and supports.
  • Organize data and prepare required reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate Mill You schedule.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school Diploma preferred
  • Experience in team building and leadership development
  • Experience working collaboratively with young adults and understand their level of resourcefulness and resilience
  • Able to utilize or be trained in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and positive youth development principles.
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Familiarity with youth housing instability and homelessness service systems
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
