Job Title: Assistant Montessori Teacher (Part Time)

The responsibilities of this position include working under the guidance of a master Montessori teacher with over 20 years of experience. You will work with our precious 2-6 year-old students on individualized lessons, as well as supervising and helping at lunchtime, playtime, resting, and quiet time. Being able to work both inside and outside (patio is swamped cooled during warm days). All staff (from school owner to teachers) share in cleaning and organizing duties, so you should have a team player, “whatever it takes” mentality.

Community Montessori School has been in operation for 25years and our staff of 5 teachers have an average tenure of 10 plus years at the school. Our teaching team acts as a family, working together to build a loving, thoughtful environment for our students. Many of the families of our students have sent all of their children to our school and stay in touch for years after their children “graduate” to elementary school. This is a special place.

Requirements:

• Must have a passion for children and want to work with them in accordance with the
• Montessori philosophy. After our training must demonstrate taking initiative with children and show strong self-confidence and communication skills.
• At least 6 months of verifiable experience working with young children, Montessori preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• Some college, preferably in early childhood education classes, or certifications of Early

Childhood Education classes is preferred but not required.

• Must have Fingerprint card and be CPR and First Aid trained (or obtain before start of work)
• TB tested negative within last 12 months
• Must be able to lift children/water bottles (as much as 50 pounds), if necessary.
• Must have strong English language skills
• Must be very reliable, punctual and a team player
• Available to work according to Paradise Valley School District academic calendar (as well as summer school program)

Negotiable pay rate based on experience. Paid holidays and sick pay. Bonus based on performance. We are a school, not a daycare, so we are closed following the PVUSD calendar. We do have a summer school program that is part of the expectation for this role.
