Job Summary:
The Patient Registration Representative (PRR) plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to patients. With excellent interpersonal skills, the PRR ensures patient satisfaction and care. They understand the importance of patient education and strive to inform and empower patients to make informed decisions about their well-being. The PRR also provides clerical and administrative support in the delivery of patient care and meeting patient needs while maintaining a respectful and inclusive approach.
Primary Function:
The primary focus of the PRR is to complete clinical and administrative support functions to ensure a satisfactory customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the integrity of the Health Information Record by accurately obtaining, inputting, and retrieving information using the Electronic Medical Record system.
- Schedule appointments, complete pre-registration tasks, verify demographic and insurance information, and perform other necessary tasks to ensure accurate claims billing.
- Identify situations where triage by clinical healthcare staff is required.
- Coordinate patient and information flow while rigorously maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with Federal HIPAA laws.
- May collaborate as a member of a patient care team and provide Care Coordination services. Actively participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities as necessary.
- Complete Prior Authorizations and Referrals, and provide specialist resource information.
- Track and log patient information.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED).
- At least one (1) year of experience delivering high-level customer service in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
- Preferred: Associates Degree in a related field.
- Preferred: Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Preferred: Three (3) years of experience delivering high-level customer service.
- Preferred: Three (3) years of relevant healthcare experience.
- Preferred: Proficiency in an Electronic Medical Record system.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. There may be significant job-related stress. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. The position may also involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to ten pounds.
Union Affiliation:
The Patient Service Representative position is represented by United Healthcare Workers East, Local 1199. The pay range is $16.12-$19.46/hr, depending on experience.
