Description

Community Health Alliance is looking for full-time WIC Eligibility Worker l. Join our talented team of WIC Eligibility Worker l that focus on serving the community and helping those in need by creating healthy outcomes for patients of every income.

We operate six convenient locations throughout Reno and Sparks, providing comprehensive, top-quality medical services, dental and pediatric care, behavioral health, low-cost pharmacies, nourishing food pantries, and more.

Job Summary: The WIC Eligibility Worker is responsible for determining WIC eligibility, providing nutrition education and performing case management on resource referrals for WIC clients. This person must do all activities in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

  • Competitive salary: $34,089- $40,000

Qualifications


Education and Experience: Minimally a high school diploma or GED with some college preferred. Must complete the following courses and obtain certifications within three years of hire: 1) Nevada State WIC Certified Professional Authority course, exam and certificate, 2) Office Laboratory Assistant training and certificate and 3) Certified Lactation Educator course and certificate. Experience in the social service, public health or medical field highly desirable. Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of infection control methods, especially hand hygiene, standard precautions and personal protective equipment.

  2. Knowledge in basic mathematics, including graphing, fractions and decimals.

  3. Skill in operating personal computer, utilizing word processing, databases and email.

  4. Skill in operating various office equipment, such as calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine and telephone system.

  5. Skill in customer relations.

  6. Skill in accuracy and attention to detail.

  7. Skill in using adult and infant scale, stadiometer and recumbent board to measure height and weight.

  8. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow-up in a fast-paced work environment.

  9. Ability to communicate effectively and fluently orally and in writing in English and Spanish.

  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  11. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and troubleshooting solutions.

  12. Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork within WIC, Community Health Alliance, community organizations and other Nevada WIC programs.

  13. Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.

  14. Ability to understand and empathize with the needs and situations of a multi-cultural, low income population and a desire to work with this population.

  15. Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse over the phone with clients.

  16. Ability to work non-traditional days and hours, as required.

  17. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis reasonable accommodations will be made for physical limitations on an individual basis.
