Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana is Hiring an Infection Control Coord Near Munster, IN

PURPOSE:
Under general supervision and according to established hospital and professional policies and procedures, performs surveillance activities related to the identification, prevention, and control of actual and potential infections. Prepares and presents infection control educational programs, participates in the development and review of hospital departments' infection control. Prepares and presents related data reports to medical staff, clinical departments, and committees as required. Services as a liaison to outside agencies concerned with infection control. Participates in the development and implementation of the Hospital Quality Improvement Program; responsible for identification, investigation, reporting, and prevention and control of Healthcare Associate Infections (nosocomial infections) among patients and personnel.
Oversees the Infection Control Program to institute policies for the prevention and control of diseases and infections. Established uniformity in the Infection Control Program. She/he demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age the patient population served on a designated nursing unit.
Education/Experience:
  • Qualified Bacteriologist or Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. Bachelors Degree preferred. Minimum experience of 2 years in a hospital setting and a reasonable knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious disease. Two years (2) years of supervisory experience in Microbiology or Nursing. Maintains current CPR Certification. Annual safety and Infection Control Procedure updates. Current Infection Control Certification or demonstrates competency through experience and education in Infection Control. Must be able to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs. Proficient in statistical analysis and data submission. Must be possess excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of adult education principles. Proficiency in computer skills, the ability to work with diverse groups and proficiency in the operation of audiovisual equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of patient care management, principles of asepsis, microbiology, pathology, immunology, and medical statistics or biostatistics. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory, accrediting and advisory body requirements. Ability to assume a leadership role in implementation of strategies designed to prevent and control healthcare associated infections. Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement processes.
