Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Director of Investments will assist in setting the investment policy, investment guidelines and appropriate asset allocation framework; working hand in hand with the President and Investment Committee with the hiring, continuing with and terminating of external investment managers; and determining appropriate benchmarks including peer groups and index benchmarks. The DOI will build relationships with traditional and alternative investment firms and guide the management of the portfolio with the objective of achieving superior investment returns at acceptable levels of risk. Our publicly traded portfolios are globally diversified, passive in nature, and focused on evidenced based factors.

The Director of Investments will also oversee an alternative hard money income fund by servicing and providing the appropriate underwriting to ensure the strategies success and long-term sustainability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for asset allocation and fund selection
  • Responsible for overseeing on-going portfolio construction and research initiatives.
  • Recommend strategic asset allocation decisions across each of HFGs objective-based asset allocation strategies.
  • Oversee manager research and selection process across multiple asset classes (High Quality Fixed Income, Credit, Global Stocks, Real Assets).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective third-party money managers (mutual funds and ETFs)
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the approved strategy models and the compliance of the advisory team.
  • Oversee and manage the companys hard money income fund.
  • Conduct on-going due diligence on current and prospective managers and actively communicate updates to the Trust Investment Committee and Advisory Team.
  • Prepare monthly third-party manager tracking dashboards.
  • Lead client specific research projects (fund specific or strategy focused questions).
  • Manage the trading department and develop key KPIs to provide leadership.
  • Make mutual fund, ETF and stock trades on an individual and model basis as needed.
  • Serve as the backup trader for the Portfolio Administrator as needed. 
  • Assist the President and Trust Investment Committee with financial education and communication to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Advisors in explaining portfolios and investment concepts in client meetings.
  • Provide content for the Quarterly Reviews by writing commentary for clients and plan participants.
  • Educate the Investment Committee and Advisory Team members on current events, financial markets and portfolio construction updates.

Qualifications


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Accounting, Finance or Economics Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Designation of CFA or CPA preferred
  • Work experience that demonstrates investment acumen and experience with investment platforms and client service.
