Community College of Baltimore County is Hiring a Specialist, Communications - Part Time Near Dundalk, MD

The purpose of this class is to provide support to The Office of Institutional Advancement staff in the promotion of funded projects, events and fundraising activities.
Bachelor’s degree required, degree in English, Public Relations, Marketing or similar field preferred. Experience in higher education and/or non-profit, promoting special events and fundraising preferred. Proficient with Online Express or similar e-mail marketing software. Experience with Adobe, Raiser’s Edge, Canva, Sitecore, social media sites, and email online newsletter development tools preferred. 
  1. Write articles, draft press releases and other written materials that will promote projects and/or special events. 
  2. Develop, implement and maintain publication schedule and plan articles and materials to be submitted for possible publication placement.
  3. Maintain record of publications (e.g. clippings) and past events.
  4. Work and collaborate with multiple departments within the Institutional Advancement Office to identify and develop marketing strategies to promote special projects, events and/or fundraising opportunities to specific audience(s)
  5. Assist with special events and/or fundraising activities, such as the CCBC Gala, Crab Feast, with duties such as taking photos, doing follow up articles, etc.
  6. Maintain schedule of promotional timelines, deadlines, and events.
  7. Post content to social media sites and serve as the primary point of contact for updating and promoting content. 
  8. Update/contribute content on the CCBC website and department donor engagement systems (Almabase, OneCause).
  9. Develop marketing materials to highlight events and fundraising campaigns (i.e. save-the-date, flyers, & invitations).
  10. Design, create and coordinate schedule for division and department newsletters.
