Community College of Baltimore County is Hiring an Assistant Director, Adult Basic Education Program Near Dundalk, MD

The purpose of this position is to perform a professional level of administrative duties in coordinating the daily operations for the Center for Adult and Family Literacy. Bachelor’s degree and three years of full-time experience coordinating adult education programs required. Master’s degree and adult literacy experience preferred. Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

  1. Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
  2. Implement department programs or initiatives.
  3. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
  4. Maintain department records and files, as required.
  5. Conduct and attend meetings, as required.
  6. Supervise, advise, and evaluate assigned staff, as required.
  7. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  8. Manage program expenses efficiently and economically.
  9. Identify access and analyze program data in the college’s Banner and Con Ed Supp system.
  10. Develop new courses and course series.

  1. Plan, schedule, and coordinate the college’s adult basic and secondary education classes that prepare students to take the GED® exams, for post-secondary education, and/or for training.
  2. Provide leadership and supervision to the team to ensure quality of literacy programs.
  3. Accurately forecast and track annual unit revenue and FTE generation.
  4. Develop and achieve personal goals and program performance goals that contribute to the unit and divisional goals and business plans.
  5. Assist in the budget process and monitoring of all ABE/ASE funding
  6. Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty, and part-time professionals.
  7. Represent and promote the college at affinity groups, professional and business associations, and at community and networking events. 
  8. Participate in the planning and implementation of adjunct faculty professional development activities.
  9. Monitor and review intake and registration, assessments, attendance, and performance data collection for all ABE/ASE course offerings.
  10. Establish and monitor ABE/ASE program performance outcomes required by State funders.
  11. Focus on workforce development and career guidance in program areas with assigned placement performance metrics (i.e. WIOA eligible programs).
  12. Counsel and advise students.
  13. Manage supply of instructional material, student materials and equipment.
