Position Title: Student Engagement Specialist (Student Funded FT)

General Summary: Promotes, coordinates and administers program, events and activities for students outside of the classroom setting, which may include intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, recreational activities, social and cultural events, student clubs and organizations and/or student publications.
Requirements: Associate's degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) and a minimum of one year related experience. Ability to multitask, plan successful activities and adhere to budgets, insurance and policies and procedures. Strong knowledge of social media platforms, graphic design platforms, and general technology. Good interpersonal communication, people and leadership skills. Strong experience coordinating student programs, advising student organizations, publications for the newspaper and/or publicity, tangibly and/or virtually. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Strong knowledge of marketing, public relations, club organizations and/or athletics. Experience in a college setting; technologically literate. Travel to other college locations is expected. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Duties:
In general, duties consist of advising, coordinating and administering programs. Specific duties and responsibilities vary by function focus of particular position. Job may involve assisting with activities/events outside the specific focus of the job such as New Student Orientation and other campus and college-wide celebrations. Position may also involve monitoring budgets, supervising and mentoring students, ordering supplies and attending meetings.
For positions focused on Athletics, Intramurals and Recreational Activities, typical duties may include:
1. Ask. Listen. Solve.
2. Works with college leadership on enrollment management and retention initiatives.
3. Creates events and programs that cater to the on-campus and virtual population.
4. Implements intramural and recreational activities in the Southeast region.
5. Assists in the operations of the Fitness Centers.
6. Creates schedule for Fitness Center staff, including Work-study students and temporary workers for both locations in Southeast region.
7. Provides a safe workout atmosphere for students, staff and faculty.
8. Serves as the Campus Cupboard and Closet coordinator at Boyce Campus.
9. Assists the Student Engagement Coordinators in programming and projects college-wide.
10. Creates donation drives for the Campus Cupboard and campus closet, college-wide.
11. Schedules/coordinates events including intramural matches.
12. Creates fitness and wellness programs, college-wide.
13. Assists with E-sports program.
14. Performs other duties as required or as assigned.
For the position focused on the one college Student Newspaper and Publicity, typical duties will include:
1. Coordinate the planning and implementation of a comprehensive calendar of programming that meets the needs of a diverse student population, and which contributes to the growth and development of students.
2. Explore, create and execute new opportunities for active and passive engagement.
3. Utilize design software, including but not limited to, Final Cut, Canva, InDesign, Adobe products and other media production programs.
4. Effectively communicate events to the college community through innovative marketing strategies.
5. Coordinate and market an incentive program for event attendance. Maintain a tracking system for event attendees.
6. Serve as the expert and advisor for the college-wide student newspaper.
7. Serve as department point person for Social Media postings.
8. Support clubs/organizations by working with them to produce quality programming.
9. Produce collaborative programming with staff from across the College.
10. Coordinate, create and design all departmental marketing advertisements including posters/signs, social media posts, marketing slides, and all other methods of advertising; manage the publicity request form.
11. Serves as advisor for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honors Society at South.
12. Assists in other areas as needed.
13. Perform other duties as required or as assigned.
For positions focused on Student Clubs/Organizations, typical duties may include:
1. Ask. Listen. Solve.
2. Works with college leadership on enrollment management and retention initiatives.
3. Explores, creates and executes new opportunities for active and passive engagement.
4. Creates events and programs that cater to the on-campus and virtual population.
5. Assists clubs and organizations with Virtual Programming, including setting up virtual registration, coordination of materials and publications, and other elements.
6. Works with faculty, staff, and college leadership members on out-of-classroom engagement.
7. Co-Leads the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) program for the department.
8. Assists the Student Engagement Coordinators with assessment in leadership programs and projects for the department.
9. Provides leadership development training for students.
10. Serves as the Co-Advisor to Phi Theta Kappa at the North campus.
11. Assists the Student Engagement Specialist with Social media marketing by serving as their back-up.
12. Assists the Student Engagement Specialist with the student newspaper, the Voice, as needed.
13. Supports clubs by working with them to produce quality programming and department support.
14. Leads intramurals and recreational activities and other out of the classroom experiences, like intercollegiate athletics and social/cultural events in congruence with the other Specialists to provide one-college offerings, regardless of campus. Serves as Campus Cupboard coordinator at North Campus.
15. Performs other duties as required or as assigned.
For positions focused on Entertainment, Cultural and Special Events, typical duties may include:
1. Assists with planning and implementing programs.
2. Publicizes and promotes events and activities.
3. Assists with fundraising and expenditures.
4. Prepares mailings.
5. Arranges presentations.
6. Assists in other areas as needed.
7. Performs other duties as required or as assigned.
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
