Community AIDS Network/Akron Pride Initiative is Hiring a Housing Support Specialist Near Akron, OH

POSITION DESCRIPTION

CANAPI

POSITION TITLE: Housing and Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: Housing Program Manager

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assists those who are infected with HIV/AIDS to find, adapt and retain safe and affordable housing. Assesses and addresses supportive service needs of clients in CANAPI housing programs. Supervises the daily operations of Harmony Place and its clients. Assist with the nutrition program. Participates in all fundraising activities and events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated experience and/or training in areas such as non-profit, program development, public relations, social work, fund raising, grant writing and property management.

  • Four-year college degree in related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to a variety of persons, both professional and lay, as well as to organizations and systems.

· Empathy and understanding for the LGBTQ community and those living with HIV/AIDS or struggling with substance abuse.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with people from a variety of different racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender and generational backgrounds.
  • Cultural competency, especially pertaining to LGBTQ and HIV-positive populations.
  • Experience with housing special populations and with HUD and Fair Housing regulations.
  • Self-motivated, action-oriented, flexible and the ability to multitask in a fast-moving environment.
  • Dependable transportation and ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and in times of crisis.
  • Ability to relate to children and adolescents particularly in family crisis situations.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support

  • Provide overall support for staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain materials and supplies for housing and nutrition programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organizational standards at housing properties.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities as directed.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures.

Program Support

  • Collect rent and laundry coins, complete rent summary spreadsheet, prepare and secure deposit in safe at administrative building.
  • Ensure security and safety of tenants; enforce compliance with tenant policies and regulations.
  • Document all security/safety violations and complete necessary maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Complete all move-in/move-out procedures.
  • Maintain confidential client folders as well as other records, reports or files as required, including thorough case notes.
  • Conduct annual recertifications in accordance with HUD regulations.
  • Submit monthly TRACS voucher.
  • Maintain contact with clients in housing programs and offer assistance as needed.
  • Develop and monitor case plans for housing program participants.
  • Provide information and referral services to clients based on individual needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Plan and administer nutrition program and complete reports as required.
  • Enter data into HMIS systems.
  • Work toward the successful completion of the agency Strategic Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compliance and Statistical Support

  • Collect, maintain and collate statistical data and case records as required by funding sources including but not limited to housing and nutrition data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local guidelines for housing facilities.
  • Communicate lease agreement compliance issues with Housing Program Manager in a timely manner.
  • Complete Incident Reports as required by agency policy and procedure.
  • Ensure completion of case notes and other documents as required.
  • Attend meetings as required by grant guidelines.

Fundraising and Grants Support

  • Assist with planning and execution of fundraising efforts.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of grant proposals.

Public Relations

  • Represent and promote CANAPI to the community at large.
  • Network with other HIV and LGBTQ services including advocacy, housing and planning organizations.
  • Collaborate with existing service providers to assess needed services.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, conferences, trainings etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with current news, research and treatment of HIV/AIDS as well as current LGBTQ topics.

Board Relations

· Attend meetings as required and participate on board committees as requested.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
