Job Duties
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Healthcare Compliance Specialist in the Office of Quality Assurance and Healthcare Compliance. The Healthcare Compliance Specialist ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and professionally recognized standards of care for the Behavioral Health, Facilities, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Disabled programs. This position also assists with implementation of goals and objectives to ensure agency adopts ethical conduct, procedures, and systems intended to prevent, detect, and correct quality of care issues effectively and efficiently.
Duties include:
• Coordinating and conducting periodic reviews to ensure DBHDS is current with regulatory, legal, certification, accreditation, policy and procedure requirements.
• Monitoring corrective action plans.
• Monitoring and managing DBHDS complaint hotline.
• Coordinating system-level compliance related investigations.
• Assisting with development and maintenance of policies and procedures and trainings.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of accreditation, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting reviews that align with legal, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
• Experience monitoring compliance against requirements in a healthcare setting.
• Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting complex data and information.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across DBHDS and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of a diverse workforce.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in legal, healthcare, public administration, related clinical disciplines.
• CPHQ certification and/or training in related healthcare, clinical, and quality management.
• Improvement practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
