Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of a FOOD SERVICE TECHNICIAN I (UTILITY DRIVER). This position will prepare snacks, nourishments and other food items for resident service and the trayline. Helps to maintain sanitation. Cleans trays, carts and other equipment. Assists on the trayline when needed. Delivers and retrieves or assists in the delivery and retrieval of food carts from different areas on campus. Uses a food service truck or other hospital vehicle in a safe manner to accomplish this mission. Responsible for maintaining the maintenance and sanitary condition of the vehicle used.
The qualified candidate will be available to work a rotating schedule to include weekdays and alternate weekends and some holidays and will have the ability to routinely lift 50 pounds or 25% of body weight, whichever is less.
8-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with every other weekend off, staff permitted.
*Must be able to complete provided Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment.*
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record from the last three years.
Experience driving delivery trucks up to 13 tons GVWR.

Additional Considerations

Food Service training with basic knowledge of food service sanitation, safety and service requirements is preferred.
