Job Description:Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC’s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Fiscal Technician part time position will provide fiscal support for The Center for Workforce Solutions and report directly to the Financial Services Specialist.
Functional Responsibilities:
· Processes billing, monitors processes, and maintains accurate records
· Communicates with District, Norfolk Business Office, organizations and students through email and phone to resolve issues/discrepancies.
· Assists WFS Fiscal Specialist in monitoring Accounts Receivable balances
· Assists WFS Fiscal Specialist with tracking revenue
· Assists with processing refunds and handling financial holds
· Creates, manages, and tracks student debt letters and communicates with Norfolk Business Office for invoicing
· Reviews daily Workforce Enterprise System (WES)/ Student Information System (SIS) financial reports for issues to reconcile accounts are in balance
· Maintains and updates Special Arrangement Contracts (SACs) agreements
· Code and file forms/maintain financial filing system
· Prepares reports as needed
· Other duties as needed/assigned
Minimum Qualifications:· Knowledge of the functional areas of billing and invoicing
· Knowledge of budget/financial management practices and techniques
· Knowledge of accounting principles, particularly accounts receivable
· Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of PC-based software including e-mail, word-processing, spread sheets, database and power point
· Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite products
· Ability to apply appropriate customer service techniques, use sound judgment to resolve client -related issues.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to organize, key, edit and accurately proof documents.
· Ability to maintain accurate records
· Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to achieve department goals
· Ability to multitask; meet multiple deadlines at once
· Must be highly organized and detail oriented
· Must possess strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
