Commonwealth of VA Careers is Hiring a Dental Radiology Technician Near Richmond, VA
Primary Purpose: VCU School of Dentistry, Department of Radiology is seeking a part-time, non-benefited Dental Radiology Technician to join our team. This position will provide radiology services that include exposing diagnostic quality dental radiographic images by applying principles of radiation safety. In addition, this position will assist with the instruct of technical radiology courses to dental and dental hygiene students This position is open only to current VCU employees. Hours/Days: Monday - Thursday, not to exceed 29hrs/week Responsibilities:
Expose and scan diagnostic quality intraoral and extraoral dental radiographs by applying principles and techniques that ensures radiation safe patient care
Participate in teaching and demonstrating techniques of dental radiography, radiation safety and infection control procedures to dental and dental hygiene students
Assist in evaluating technical quality of dental radiographs produced by dental and dental hygiene students
Keeps the front desk operating in an efficient and organized manner
Responsible for checking patients into the Radiology clinic for radiographs, confirming radiographic orders are appropriate and correct and completing procedure charges
Offers professional and friendly assistance to staff, faculty and patients; treats both internal and external customers in a respectful and courteous manner
Maintain and organize radiology clinic and conference room
Assist with image import and export service for Radiology department
Assist Faculty in dental student labs as assigned
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualification:
X-Ray certification
2 - 3 years of Dental Assistant experience including radiology services
Knowledge of and experience with intra-oral dental radiography that includes but not limited to periapical radiography, bitewings radiography and occlusal radiography
Good understanding of Paralleling and bisecting angle intraoral techniques
Experience working with digital x-rays and panoramic radiography
Experience with Cone Beam CT
Computer skills that include basic Microsoft office, Excel, google and scanners
Ability to work in high volume practice
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee of VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with students in a university setting
