We are seeking an Environmental Education Specialist to p rovide outreach and education throughout the Philadelphia area and Southeast Region of Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Environmental Education Specialist, you will conduct field and office work under the direct supervision of the Southeast Regional Director followed by the Wildlife Education Specialist (WES) for the Southeast Region of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Primary duties include p lanning, developing, coordinating, and promoting wildlife conservation and environmental education programs as well as teacher workshops for both public and private schools to help meet their needs regarding environment and ecology, as well as science and technology standards mandated by the Department of Education while promoting the agency's mission.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to facilitate programs virtually and in person for a variety of public groups such as youth groups, scouts, retirement communities, consumptive, and non-consumptive users (hunters and the non-hunting public), and more.

You will also p articipate as a core team member of the Game Commission's online virtual platform, Wildlife on Wi-Fi including content creation, capturing, editing, and assistance with videography duties as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • 3-year limited term, full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment :

  • You must be willing to work weekends and evenings.
  • You must be willing to wear a prescribed uniform.
