Description
The KHS Specialist II-KHS serves as the Rental and Events Coordinator and will work to fulfill the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) mission and help colleagues throughout the building succeed. This position is an integral member of the Marketing and Communications team and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all KHS facility rentals and special events. This position markets KHS facilities to potential clients through community engagement and collaboration with the KHS Marketing and Communications Team. Along with implementing KHS rentals and events, this position is cross trained to serve all KHS visitor services areas: the 1792 Museum Store, Broadway reception desk, Kentucky Military History Museum reception desk, and Old State Capitol reception desk. The Rental and Events Coordinator must exhibit outstanding customer service and excel at organizing memorable events that meet quality expectations, pre-determined outcomes, and client needs. Key Responsibilities:
Market KHS facilities to cultivate potential clients
Coordinate and implement all necessary logistics for rental clients from initial inquiry through event completion
Coordinate and implement all necessary logistics for KHS special events, including exhibit openings, community celebrations, award ceremonies, etc.
Support members of the Visitor Services team and assist other departments at KHS to provide quality experiences for the guests of the Society.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED. Associate degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Minimum of three (3) years of experience organizing and planning special events, preferably with a non-profit, museum, or other visitor-serving cultural organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working with groups and individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Basic ability to use the internet and personal computers, including database management, Microsoft Office suite of products, and video conferencing.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be able to manage multiple projects from concept to completion. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasionally travel. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to maintain consistent movement between KHS campus sites. May be required to help with event/meeting room setup, including placement of furniture, fixtures, decorations, electronic equipment, etc.
Working Conditions
This position is typically a 37.5-hour Tuesday-Saturday position, but flexibility in scheduling is needed to provide staffing for event rentals outside KHS’s standard hours of operation. The primary office for this position is in the Thomas Clark Kentucky History Center in downtown Frankfort, Kentucky. The KHS campus consists of the Kentucky History Center, the Old State Capitol, and the Kentucky Military History Museum, all within a .25-mile radius in downtown Frankfort.
