By joining the Division of Water, Watershed Management Branch, GIS & Data Analysis Section as a Geoprocessing Specialist II in Franklin county, you will have the opportunity to work across organizational lines, with the public and with the regulated community providing technical, scientific assistance on GIS integration and projects.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Holders of this position will complete tasks such as:

• Provide GIS expertise for projects including map production, layer development, reach-indexing, geospatial analysis and quality assurance/quality control using available GIS tools and applications
• Work with others on GIS-related functions to produce updated, innovative, or new projects
• Research, develop and document better spatial information methods, standards and tools to promote effective information sharing to improve business efficiency
• Provide GIS expertise and technical oversight for GIS applications

Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
• Strong GIS and ESRI experience
• Strong technical writing skills

Additional position information: Some travel may be required. Candidates must maintain a current Driver's License. Frequently communicate in person or by other means of technology. Spends majority of time using a computer.
