Description

Under the general direction of the division director supervises professional staff in the development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the administration of educational programs for local school districts, state and/or private educational agencies; and provides consultative services and technical assistance in the areas of alternative education, dropout prevention and engagement, and the federal Title IV, Part A and Stronger Connections grant programs.
Supervise professional and support staff and provide consultative services, technical assistance, and direction to local education agencies and Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) offices in planning, developing, and implementing strategies identified within the KDE strategic plans.
Manage the work of the branch by establishing priorities aligned with Kentucky Board of Education and Kentucky Department of Education priorities, making assignments, monitoring progress, and communicating department and office policies, procedures, and regulations.
Collaborate with internal and external education partners, including advisory committees, higher education, parent groups and other agencies.
Analyze data, prepare and edit presentations, budgets, research, reports, and testimony for the Kentucky Board of Education, legislative committees, Educational Professional Standards Board, and other agencies, partners, and boards.
Reviews laws and regulations to provide information and guidance to appropriate organizations, agencies, and individuals as they relate to division initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of professional experience in education, vocational education, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
