Description
We would love to have you join our team at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture! Our department provides services and programs across the Commonwealth which benefit every Kentuckian each day.
This Agricultural Marketing Supervisor is in our Office of Agricultural Marketing, Industrial Hemp Section and will have the following duties:
  • Plans, coordinates, assigns and supervises activities related to the Hemp Licensing Program on a statewide basis to include applications, reports, inspections, testing, compliance, general questions, and participant liaison to ensure quality and availability of agricultural products.
  • Supervises employees in their work related to Hemp Licensing, reviews/approves leave requests and timesheets and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Conducts educational workshops and public speaking events regarding the hemp program.
  • Attends workshops and meetings statewide and nationally concerning hemp.
  • Represents the department at all hemp events, meetings, and responds to hemp inquiries.
  • Serves as the liaison between the department and the USDA Domestic Hemp Production Program and law enforcement officials. Coordinates and supervises all program-reporting to the USDA and law enforcement.
  • Assists the Commissioner's Office with policy development, USDA state plan revisions and communication with hemp industry stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in agriculture.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in the production or marketing of agricultural products.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the production and/or marketing of agricultural products will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work typically involves extensive contact with the public. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
