The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.
The mission of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is to help Kentuckians with disabilities achieve suitable employment and independence. One of the primary tools that the agency uses to improve the independence at home, school and work of individuals with disabilities is assistive technology. Assistive technology is widely recognized as critical in the successful employment of individuals with disabilities.
We are seeking an Administrative Specialist II to provide professional support in the review, evaluation, development, and implementation of agency's activities. This position will serve the assistive technology specialists in the Southeastern Kentucky area, including Danville, Somerset, Hazard, and Prestonsburg districts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional support to Assistive Technology specialists on casework processes. Set up and maintain files to track consumer data, including new referrals. Record and track new referrals, request supporting documentation. Obtain pre-assessment forms from consumers and schedule initial appointment with Assistive Technology Specialist.
  • Receive assistive technology authorizations and order equipment for consumers. Set up and prepare equipment for delivery by removing from packaging, charging and completing any required software updates. Maintain a tracking log for all equipment. Schedule pickup and delivery of equipment. Maintain vendor/product database.
  • Enter case service information into Case Mangement System (CMS) and generate reports to assist Assistive Technology Specialists with caseload management.
  • Serve as the primary contact for consumers and counselors in follow up services, including satisfaction surveys and quality improvement. Participate in the development of process improvements in the provision of assistive technology services.
  • Direct consumers to training, warranty information, etc., once services have been completed. Identify when further services are necessary and obtain referral for such services.
  • Coordinate consumer technology access program. Keep equipment charged and updated. Track technology loans. Check equipment in and out and tracks location and status of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
