Position Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor plays an important role in the efficient operation of our manufacturing plant by overseeing the shipping and receiving activities. Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, this position ensures timely and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of materials and finished products. The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading a team, managing inventory levels, coordinating logistics, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise Shipping and Receiving Operations: Direct and oversee the daily activities of the shipping and receiving department to ensure efficiency and productivity.
• Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate a team of shipping and receiving associates to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and implementing replenishment strategies to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
• Coordinate Logistics: Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including scheduling deliveries, preparing shipping documents, and arranging transportation.
• Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and condition of incoming and outgoing materials and products.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including proper handling of hazardous materials and adherence to transportation regulations.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in shipping and receiving operations, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Communication: Maintain open communication with other departments, such as production, purchasing, and customer service, to coordinate activities and resolve any issues related to shipping and receiving.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of shipping and receiving processes, inventory management principles, and logistics operations. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP software preferred.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, including effective communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory records, preparing shipping documents, and inspecting incoming materials.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement process improvements.
• Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, business needs, and operational requirements.
• Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety practices and the ability to enforce safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
• Due to onsite/offsite storage, up to 10% local travel is required.
