You will have two main goals as a Fleet Manager.

Assisting the "Account Manager" person in all of their duties

Dispatching of Loads "Dispatching" to the driver.

Dispatching:

The Fleet Manager person will be responsible for dispatching company drivers and owner-operators on all loads in the most productive, efficient and safest manner possible. You will need to work with the Account Manager personnel to achieve the objective for company trucks and owner-operators to give them loads that maximize their revenue while also meeting the drivers’ personal goals and minimizing dead head. The Fleet Manager position is a multi-dimensional job that should always strive to meet the drivers needs first followed by the companies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION:

Fleet Manager

1. Responsible for all communication between drivers and Account Managers to maintain our culture and quality of service.

2. Responsible for ensuring that you or the Account Manager personnel has called both the shipper and consignee before the truck is dispatched. "Triangle Theory".

3. If the Account Manager personnel is unavailable, you may be responsible for talking directly to the customers concerning their duties, filling in when necessary, and for documenting all communications.

4. Responsible that you or the Account Manager personnel document the facts of the load and commitments on load tickets to include dates and times of commitments. If the Account Manager personnel are busy, you will be responsible for filling out and writing up the dispatch tickets.

5. Responsible for reviewing all outbound loads and ensuing that you are updating Account Manager or customer daily, or as necessary, on their progress.

6. You will need to monitor the Late Loads email in order to notify the customer and/or the Account Manager personnel on the situation.

7. You may be required to monitor web sites for load availability, tracking services or other Account Manager duties as required, including any TMS updates.

DISPATCHING

9. Responsible for all dispatching all company equipment and owner operators

10. Responsible for establishing personal, efficient communication with drivers in order to ensure that the driver will commit to the load and be able to safely perform the requirements of the load. This includes monitoring and responding to any On Board Communications with your driver.

11. Responsible for ensuring that you give drivers all the information you have available for each load and documenting information on the load ticket.

12. A key part of your responsibility is to work in concert with your Account Manager personnel. As a team, we all need to ensure that all processes are followed. However, it is critical that, whenever possible, you assist your Account Manager personnel with their jobs so that they can focus on spending time with their customers and booking loads.
