Work shift: this position is a part-time/PRN position.

POSITION SUMMARY: The CNA works under the direct supervision of a LPN. The CNA is responsible to assist the professional staff by performing various resident care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the residents. The CNA is responsible for the delivery of resident care (bathing and assisting with personal grooming) as directed by charge nurse. The CNA maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. The CNA strives to incorporate the philosophy and mission of the Edith Kassanavoid Gordon Assisted Living Center's goals of quality care in a personal manner with total regard for individual human dignity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment in the best interest of residents.
• Demonstrates skill in the nursing process.
• HIPAA competency-protects resident's privacy by insuring resident charts or items with resident data with protected health information (PHI) are not left unattended or open.
• Demonstrates the ability to read, understand, and follow individual resident care plans.
• Recognizes and reports changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse.
• Acts as an advocate of the Patient Bill of Rights and assures resident and family understanding.
• Communicates clearly and tactfully with residents and their families.
• Attends all mandatory in-services and meetings, as required.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve facility objectives and maintains good employee relations. 
• Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: LPN Charge Nurse and the Director of Nursing/Administrator.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 50 pounds or less.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works indoors, exposure to bodily fluids, biohazards, needles. Emotionally stressful. Required to work on holidays and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful completion of an Oklahoma state approved Nursing Assistant certification course or other education which meets stated certification requirements.
• CPR and First Aid Certification 
• Minimum of three (3) months prior nursing assistant experience is preferred. 
• Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
• Proficient with computers, computer programs to include Microsoft Office and typing.
• Must have a valid Oklahoma State Driver's License.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical is required.
• Must be willing to obtain Food Handlers Certification upon employment.
• Must be able to cover “call-in” shifts as needed.
