Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and creative full-time Middle School English Teacher to begin in the 2024-2025 academic year.

This position also includes the potential for leadership in roles such as grade-level dean, club advisor, affinity / alliance group leader, etc.

Major Functions and Responsibilities :

• Teach classes for grades 6-8.
• English Language Arts instruction includes
• Reading for fluency, comprehension, analysis, and appreciation.
• Students developing distinct voices in a variety of writing tasks and rhetorical modes, including research, narration, exposition, argumentation, and creative writing.
• Critical thinking, presentation skills, vocabulary, and grammar study.
• Lead an advisory group.
• Participate actively in the life of the school, including leading clubs and / or activities, chaperoning school trips (including a potential overnight trip), and possibly coaching.
• Potential leadership responsibilities (Form Level Dean, Club Advisor, Affinity / Alliance Groups, etc.).

Experience

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Ability to teach a scope of different levels.
• Candidates who have some experience teaching history classes in addition to English are preferred.
• Strong candidates will have at least three years of experience teaching.
