Columbus Consolidated Government is Hiring an Aquatics Division Manager - G127 Near Parks, GA

This position is responsible for managing and supervising the daily operations of the aquatic center and all parks and recreation aquatic facilities.

  • Manages and supervises the daily operations of the aquatic center.
  • Prepares, monitors and administers the aquatic center budget.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, assigns, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
  • Reviews and approves schedules and vacation and sick leave requests.
  • Attends management staff meetings.
  • Prepares agendas and conducts facility staff meetings.
  • Reviews and approves all facility programs and events.
  • Prepares and approves specifications for the purchase of goods and services.
  • Responds to citizen complaints.
  • Markets and promotes the aquatic center and programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of budgetary development and management.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
  • Knowledge of the structure, rules and activities of swim meets and competitions.
  • Knowledge of pool chemicals, machinery and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Aquatic Chemical Operating Systems and Aquatic Filtration Systems.
  • Skill in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making.
  • Skill in management and supervision.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment including work related computer applications.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
Bachelor's Degree in Parks & Recreation, Leisure Management or related field is required. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the department in order to direct and coordinate work within the department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. Pool Operator Certificate and Aquatic Facility Operator Certificate is preferred (selected applicant will e required to possess both certificates within 12 months of hire date). Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, walking or climbing a ladders. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects up to twenty-five pounds; uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; must be able to distinguish between shades of color and utilize sense of smell. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

The work is typically performed in an office, library, computer room, aquatic center or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to loud noise, dust, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
