Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade is Hiring a Marketing & Operations Coordinator - Outdoor Recreation Industry Near Denver, CO

Department Information

The Office of Economic Development and International Trade ("OEDIT") was created to foster a positive business climate that encourages economic development through support of local and regional economic development activities throughout the State of Colorado. A comprehensive slate of programs within OEDIT's divisions support economic development efforts for all Colorado businesses - new and expanding, traditional and emerging, small and large - including retention programs to ensure the continued competitiveness of Colorado's economic base, and job training to keep Colorado's workforce the best in the nation.

Description of Job

The following provides a high-level job definition. It is not intended to provide a comprehensive or exclusive list of job duties. As such, job duties and/or responsibilities within the context of this job requisition may change at the discretion of the employee's direct supervisor.

POSITION:

The Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry (OREC) Office, a division within OEDIT, is seeking a Marketing & Operations Coordinator, reporting to the Deputy Director of the OREC Office.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations and Administrative

  • Schedules meetings and events and manages travel for the office

  • Provides administrative assistance for the team including, managing Commercial Card statements, employee reimbursements, vendor setup, processing invoices, sponsorships, and other administrative needs for the OREC Director and team

  • Is in charge of other record keeping as needed

Marketing and Communications

  • Manages the office's monthly newsletter, website, social media, and other marketing platforms, through Salesforce Marketing Cloud and social media platforms

  • Works with OEDIT's Marketing and Communications Division for other outreach needs and requests

  • Assists with managing external communication and general inquiries and distributes regular correspondence to outdoor recreation industry stakeholders

  • Works with OREC leadership to develop and implement a communications and marketing plan for the office

  • Manages and edits industry facing website using Drupal platform with focus on accessibility standards

Meetings and Events Support

  • Works with the office and vendors to help plan and implement events including the annual Colorado Outdoor Industry Leadership Summit (COILS)

  • Assists the office with scheduling and running meetings and assists with other logistics such as note taking as needed

  • Attends meetings as a proxy when needed

Program and Project Support

  • Supports administrative needs for programs and projects, such as for the Rural Technical Assistance Program (RTAP), Colorado State Outdoor Recreation Grant (COSORG), and others

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A self-starter who is outgoing, enthusiastic, and has a positive attitude and good judgment

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Has working proficiency with Google Suite and social media platforms

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Has working knowledge of Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Drupal web platform or similar platforms

  • Has experience planning and managing events

  • Has outdoor industry knowledge and/or a personal passion for the outdoors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree, with a degree in a related field preferred, and/or related experience in administrative roles with increasing responsibilities

  • At least one year of operations/administrative experience is required

Conditions of Employment

  • Applicants must pass a thorough background check prior to employment.

  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify their application from the current position.

Supplemental Information

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 Annually

This position is considered non-classified, which means the position is not part of the Colorado State Personnel System. Therefore, the individual appointed to this position is considered at-will, and is not covered by the State Personnel Rules or the State Classification System. However, this position does come with the same benefits (retirement, insurance, etc.) as every other State employee, and with the same opportunities, pride and passion that comes with working for the great State of Colorado. Even though employment is at-will, non-classified positions have protections against discrimination and retaliation in state and federal employment laws. "At-will" employment means that either the employee or the State may terminate the employment relationship at any time for any reason or no reason, with or without notice or cause, as long as no federal or state law is violated.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

Hybrid / Office Hours

We are currently working in a hybrid model requiring 2-3 days in the office per week. Some team members choose to be in the office more than that which is completely acceptable. Our plans are to remain in a hybrid model; we are embracing flexibility -- allowing each team and team member to determine what works best for them to be productive, engaged and balanced. An exception to this could occur if we see surges in COVID cases that might require us to work from home until conditions improve.

Our hours are traditional 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.
