Summary: As the Academic Affairs Faculty Generalist, you will serve as a pivotal member of both the Academic Affairs and Human Resources teams, playing a crucial role in supporting faculty members throughout their career journey. Your responsibilities will span academic affairs and HR functions, with a primary focus on maintaining accurate records and providing comprehensive support to ensure faculty success and institutional excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist AVP of Faculty Success in Tenure and Promotion Process:
-Collaborate closely with the AVP to facilitate the tenure and promotion process, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
-Serve as a liaison between faculty members and relevant committees or departments involved in the tenure and promotion review.
Generate Letters to Faculty on various subjects:
-Prepare official correspondence to faculty members regarding tenure and promotion, sabbatical, emeritus status, reappointment decisions, etc.
-Ensure accuracy and consistency in all communications, following institutional guidelines.
Assist with Generating Lists of New Faculty for New to CMU:
-Support the onboarding process for new faculty members by compiling essential documentation and working with the coordinator of special projects on sending invites of relevant orientation activities.
Assist in Preparing Board Documents:
-Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive board documents related to faculty matters, including tenure and promotion reports, faculty achievements, and strategic initiatives.
-Ensure the timely submission and accuracy of board-related materials.
Review and Approve Faculty Qualifications:
-Review faculty qualifications and credentials to ensure alignment with institutional standards and accreditation requirements.
-Collaborate with departments and program directors to address any compliance issues or discrepancies.
Manage Documents for Faculty Files:
-Maintain organized and up-to-date faculty files, including lists of faculty rank, tenure, and promotion. Update files with evaluations, leave requests, scholarly contributions, and other relevant documentation.
-Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of faculty records and sensitive information.
Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC):
-Support the FLAC process by processing adjunct faculty pay and full-time faculty overloads.
-Aid faculty department heads and department admins regarding FLAC-related inquiries and procedures.
-Process contract preps from departments.
Collaborate with Faculty Recruiter in HR:
-Work closely with the Faculty Recruiter in Human Resources to facilitate the recruitment and hiring of new faculty members.
-Assist in the coordination of recruitment efforts, candidate evaluations, and onboarding processes as needed.
Provide Office Administrative Support:
