Position Overview

Operating under the guidance of the Artistic Director, the faculty member of Colorado Conservatory of Dance (CCD) is central to the development of the students’ journey in dance both artistically and technically. The dance faculty at CCD focuses on the wellness of our students, anatomically appropriate approach for all dance forms, and culturally relevant pedagogical philosophy through a process-based curriculum. This pivotal position entails a diverse array of responsibilities, including but not confined to:

  • Providing dynamic, excellent, and anatomically appropriate teaching to a wide range of age groups and prior experiences in at least TWO of the following forms: ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, street/urban dance, tap, or culturally specific dances.
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director and the faculty team on the delivering of the curriculum through quality lesson plans, and fostering innovation across diverse channels within Colorado Conservatory of Dance, with a distinct focus on driving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility initiatives.
  • Attend professional development opportunities provided by CCD.
  • Additional community based teaching opportunities if interested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dance or Dance Education or related professional career and life experience are valued.
  • Experience in teaching multiple dance forms including non-European centric dances.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and follow up.
  • Flexible attitude and approach toward work assignments, which may include weekday, evening, and/or weekend hours for teaching and production.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience teaching dance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • This is a non-remote position. Must reside in the Denver Metro region and be present at the CCD offices for team building, administrative duties, and meetings.

Desired Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience integrating dance forms from a variety of cultural backgrounds into lesson planning and instruction.
  • Experience in performance production and choreography.
  • Experience in instructing the class from historical and cultural perspectives

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Google Workspace, MS Office 365.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a Part-time position, and $30-$45 per hour for teaching responsibilities at CCD conduction studio instruction or in community programs, commensurate with qualifications, experience and competencies.
