Compensation: Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website
Work Year: 10 months
POSITION GOAL:
To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District’s Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
1. Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as an Art Teacher K-12
2. Bachelor’s degree or Master degree
3. Student Teaching
4. Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational
Software etc.
5. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and
socioeconomic groups.
6. Show evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in
promoting student learning while shows evidence of knowledge while
increasing student achievement
7. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks.
8. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
9. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry
in the State of Delaware.
10. Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the
Needs of their students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides instruction in Visual Arts following the Colonial School District Visual
Ars Curriculum and the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS)
2. Teaches students to recognize and use visual arts as a form of creativity
And communication.
3. Evidence of lesson planning that is goal-oriented and aligned with curriculum
and integrates instructional technology, maintain pace of of learning and
provide opportunities for students differences: and conveys appropriately high
expectations for students.
4. Helps students explore the application of materials, tools, techniques,
Technologies, and processes:
5. Relate visual arts to various historical and diverse cultural traditions.
6. Creates a supportive and creative learning environment that celebrates he
visual arts within the classroom and school community.
7. Demonstrates experience and knowledge of various arts media, elements and

8. Carefully plan for substitute teachers when unable to attend school and relate
lessons to the state content standards in the core content areas as well as
in a specific content area.

records of student achievement and behavioral performance; and complete
progress and grade reports promptly and as scheduled using automated

in a constructive manner and opportunities for active participation;
demonstrate fairness and consistency in dealing with student; and speak
and write clearly, correctly, and at an appropriate level for student understanding

student creativity(i.e. Visual display, cross-curricular connections, cultural
experiences, etc.)
13. Incorporates data analysis to inform instructional planning and delivery
14. Collaborates/communicates with related service providers, parents, and
school district staff
- Follows the appropriate protocols when questions, issues, and/or concerns
arise.
- Apprises all parties who have a legitimate educational interest in the student
of meetings, concerns, progress, and other issues.
- Confers with parents/guardians, teachers, school counselors, specialists,
and administrators to resolve student’s behavioral and academic problems.
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with
peers, support staff, parents, administration, agency staff and school district
personnel.
15. Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies
- Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines
- Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District
website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative
procedures, school district board policies, etc) to complete required paperwork,
maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance
- Cooperates with Federal, State andLocal Agency Personnel during Alternative
education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute
resolution activities.
16.. Remains current in certification research instructional strategies and
technology.
- Attends in-seric programs, mandated trainings, andself-selected workshops,
conferences, courses etc.
- Reads journal articles, investigates internet resources and collaborates with
other professionals and/or mentors.
- Keeps certification current and active by monitoring status, including clock
hours, on the DEEDS website.
17. Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
