Position Role Type:

Onsite

Primary Position: Conducts First Article inspections (FAI) of products (parts, assemblies, raw materials, and fixtures,) to validate compliance to design data requirements which includes drawings, specifications, and contract requirements at predetermined steps in the manufacturing process using basic inspection methods and tools.

Oversee FAI foundation. Responsible for participating in status report out to management. Including presentation material via method determined. Capable of setting priorities. Assist in completing customer FAI requirements per contractual obligations with appropriate departments. Assist in reaching FAI goals and objectives.

Secondary Duties: Become cross trained in other inspection duties such as Receiving Inspection, Final Inspection, and QC Inspection. This allows individual growth and expansion of Quality team flexibility. Primarily for back up purposes and need based projects.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares appropriate documentation to perform a First Article Inspection utilizing Net Inspect software system.
  • Understands and follows Quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation.
  • Performs First Article & cross train for other inspection duties throughout production.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with First Article Inspection AS9102 standard and apply.
  • Operates internal computer systems to perform inspection tasks.
  • Verifies all FAI documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Administers visual and physical inspections of units and sub-assemblies using measuring/inspection instruments with proper inspection techniques and tools.
  • Coordinates inspections with production schedule and Change Order releases.
  • Supports Collin’s metric reporting with data collection.
  • Capable of making compliance decisions based on tech data.
  • Performs administrative tasks associated with file management and record retention policies.
  • Participates in monitoring and measuring responsibilities in support of Collin’s policies and procedure requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS diploma with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Works under direct supervision. Follows established procedures on routine work. Requires minimum instructions on new assignments.
  • Applies basic job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Tasks are routine in nature but recognizes the need for some judgment and flexibility.
  • Established computer skill sets including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.
  • Established knowledge of basic measuring tools and usage.
  • Established knowledge with basic drawing and specification knowledge and application.
  • Flexible with cross-training goals
  • Able to move and lift 1 person requirements of 35 lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with aviation industry and quality background preferred.
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection concept and practices.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
