The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing fundamental accounting duties requiring an understanding of accounting principles and general financial concepts.

A day in the life of the Staff Accountant at Colleton River Club:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Preparing basic, standard journal entries to the general and recurring entries
  • Reconciling daily activity from various sales outlets and uploading sales activity into the accounting system accordingly
  • Performing data entry functions into subsidiary systems and reports as needed
  • Creating month-end financial and statistical reports as required
  • Performing reconciliation and analysis functions as required
  • Assisting with the development and reporting for newly acquired specialized software systems
  • Assisting with the development of metrics and related reports to continue to refine and improve departmental information analysis and reporting
  • Assisting with the on-going development of departmental and company-wide training documents and systems
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. 
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a club, hospitality, or real estate management/development environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel as well as accounting software applications.
  • Experience with Jonas operating software a plus 
  • Proven ability to understand and articulate business needs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Thrive in a team environment with the ability to work with others of varying personalities and skill levels in a consistently positive manner that supports the efforts of the overall team
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.
  • Must be a self-starter with a proven ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule during peak periods.
