Job Description
The Welding Technology Instructor will instruct lab and lecture classes in accordance with the established course syllabi. This includes organizing instruction towards achieving student learning outcomes; selection of textbooks and other curriculum; conferring with students; evaluating student mastery; and providing a safe and positive classroom and laboratory environment.
Other duties will include program assessment and curriculum development; student advising and mentoring; scholarship of teaching and learning- upholding professional and ethical standards; outreach to the college, community, and profession; supervising student assistants and staff as necessary; and duties as assigned by the Program Director and or Department Chair.
The candidate is expected to participate in department, and college-wide committees, as well as student recruitment activities. The candidate will participate and assist the team in maintaining and developing strong industry and community partnerships, within and outside of the program advisory committee. The candidate will commit to continuing their professional development as an educator through attendance to industry conferences and membership of professional associations.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Welding or related field from an accredited college or university and 5 years of experience working in the Welding Industry, OR 8 years of experience working in the Welding Industry OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector credentials.
  • Knowledge of computer classroom technologies.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce in a post-secondary environment.
Starting Salary Range
Candidates may elect to be hired as Market Factor or Tenure Track. Market Factor Base Salary for a Welding Instructor is $49,645.00. Tenure Track Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
