Part-Time Retention Specialist -Department of Counseling and Rentention Service - FY 2023
Job DescriptionPosition Summary- Proactively outreach and to engage and reengage students who would otherwise be at risk of not completing their college degree because of the COVID-19
- Facilitate outbound calls to students who has stop-out or drop-out of the institution
- Connect students to campus resources wrap-around support services to help ensure successful re-engagement, retention and program completion.
- Provide help desk-type support to students with inquiries regarding system accounts and navigation
- Respond in a clear and professional manner to student questions and inquiries received via phone and email within a timely fashion
- Provide accurate, and timely student-specific assistance, feedback, and support to concerning their engagement and re-engagement with CSN.
- Communicate with students and staff by email and telephone as needed and escalate any issues to the relevant supervisor
- Openly communicate with Counselors regarding student and the student-related problems and concerns.
- Make outbound calls and send emails and messages to students based on assigned caseload
- Carefully log all contact with students in the student database for record-keeping purposes
- Apply knowledge of modern office practices and equipment including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and specialized software such as Peoplesoft, Canvas, Starfish, and any other related student information system
- Apply knowledge of modern office practices and understand, interpret, and apply of policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and effectively present information to Counseling Chair.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, Academic Counselors and College employees and the public.
- Ability to work independently according to established schedules and to complete assignments and projects, as per defined timelines.
- Demonstrate organizational skills in handling, directing, and prioritizing multiple and complex assignments, as per defined timelines.
- Provide excellent customer service and timely response to student questions and inquires received vial phone and emails.
- Manage sensitive and confidential data and work independently according to established schedules and to complete outbound calls, as per defined timelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned that will support the engagement and re-engagement of student enrolled or previously enrolled.
