SUMMARY:

The Catering Sales Manager will book and organize unique and creative catering services for all events while ensuring quality customer service is delivered to customers to ensure repeat business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sales to groups to maximize and capitalize on all property bookings; ensuring that all up-sells are offered and all opportunities are seized.
  • Assist the Sales team to maximize the hotel occupancy.
  • Oversee the execution of catering services for the Coeur D’Alene Casino Resort Hotel including pre- function planning with consideration to budgets, logistics, and menu specifications.
  • Work with Principle Sales Manager to develop marketing strategies to promote and sell services.
  • Resolve personnel issues and client problems.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain department database and oversee paperwork flow.
  • Book in bound banquet food and beverage business (social, corporate, tribal, and interdepartmental), working with the Hotel Sales Team to coordinate food and beverage needs.
  • Assist clients with regard to set-up, menus, decorations, and audio visual equipment needs.
  • Secure a guaranteed guest count and method of payment for all functions.
  • Respond to guest phone calls in a timely manner
  • Maintain daily change sheets to update the kitchen and banquet staff.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Serve Safe Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Must have six years previous experience in the food service industry with a minimum of two years spent working in banquets.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Two year previous supervisory or lead experience required.
  • One year previous bartending and one year previous cooking experience preferred.
  • Two years previous serving experience required.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must be highly proficient utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong multitasking, organization, and presentation skills required.
  • Must be able to operate Micros POS, I.B.S. POS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have a typing speed of 40 AWPM.
  • Basic cashiering skills required.
  • Must guide, coach, and work well with a team.
  • Advanced problem solving skills required.
  • Must be able to manage conflict and influence outcomes.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the theory of progressive discipline.
