Description

The Radiology department Manager exercises clinical supervision over assigned Radiology Technologist and staff. Performs diagnostic mammographic exams. Applies principles of radiation protection and evaluates radiographs produced for technical quality. Exercises professional judgement in the performance of procedures. Provides patient care essential to the exam. Plans and coordinated daily activities of the clinical site and ensure staffing coverage for the department based on the Radiology department’s hours of operation. Collaborates with the Director of Quality, Performance Improvement & Population Health

Responsibilities/Duties:

Clinical

  • Exercises clinical supervision over assigned personnel.
  • Plans, performs, evaluates, and documents diagnostic mammographic examinations on pediatrics and adult patients according to health center/department policies and procedures, utilizing ionizing radiation imaging equipment.
  • Oversees patient registration in coordination with the Admitting/Radiology departments.
  • Communicates with health center’s personnel, medical staff, patients, family members, students, and others to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintains a safe working environment according to radiation safety and infection control standards.
  • Interviews the patient and documents clinical history.
  • Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations.
  • Participates in patient education and maintains confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain closed loop workflow from patient screening/test to the providers and patients receiving the results of the screening/test (and patients that need further evaluation after test/screening in outside facilities). Manage Mammogram reporting system for follow-up.
  • In collaboration with the Codman Population Health team manage the Mammogram registry.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with standards set by JCAHO and state regulations.
  • Oversees and maintain licensure for the department (and site visits)
  • Oversees and participates in quality control and works with outside agencies.
  • (Massachusetts state radiation control department and the American College of Radiology) to implement and ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation.

Management:

  • Liaise and coordinate with Lead Radiologist and Lead Quality Control staff at Boston Medical Center
  • Oversees radiologic services, maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety, and evaluates accuracy and quality of X-rays.
  • Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services.
  • Recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucial accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Provide written performance appraisals and corrective for assigned staff.
  • Performs a variety of tasks, leads, and directs the work of others.
  • Plans and coordinates monthly staff schedule and oversees payroll.
  • Ensures adequate supply levels.
  • In collaboration with the Codman Population Health team manage the Mammogram registry.
  • Attend Urgent Care department monthly meetings.
  • Serves as liaison between the clinical site and other services (Put systems in place for during hours of operation and after hours of operation).
  • Orientates staff to clinical site.
  • Host special events to showcase the Radiology department (e.g. organize with in the health center table/event for breast cancer month)

Qualifications


Qualifications:

A valid certificate in diagnostic radiologic and mammogram technology, and at least 4 years of experience in radiologic technology is required. Candidate must be creative and flexible and must have the ability to accomplish goals. Bilingual Haitian/Spanish a plus.

Previous supervisory experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Must be able to lift 10 pounds and load onto shelves
