Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and maintaining patient records. This is a vital role in our healthcare organization, as you will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial transactions and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical procedures
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, resolving any billing discrepancies or issues
- Maintain accurate patient records, including demographic information, insurance details, and billing history
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation of services rendered
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Proficient in medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and DRG systems
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and procedures
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
