Under general supervision, performs human resources administrative work of moderate difficulty in planning, coordinating and overseeing the personnel related functions of a department; performs related work as assigned.

• Plans, coordinates and oversees the human resources administrative operations of a department, program, or function
• Prepares all necessary paperwork involved with recruitment, interviewing, disciplinary actions, termination, ADA compliance, etc.
• Conducts research, analyzes data and prepares reports and recommendations
• Counsels management staff, managers and employees on human resources matters
• Coordinates and assists in recruitment programs, interviews, evaluations, training, risk management/safety, and other related programs
• Manages personnel records
• Acts as department liaison with County Human Resources department
•  Prepares, maintains information and reports, and participates in discussions and decision making concerning matters that are sensitive and highly confidential.
• May supervise, train and evaluate administrative, clerical and support staff
•  Ensures strict confidentiality is maintained at all times 
• Performs other duties as assigned
Essential functions include but not limited to: sitting; working with and around others; frequent interruptions; vision acuity near for reading and typing; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch and finger dexterity for typing.  

Associate Degree in human resources, public administration or related field and two years of human resources experience; OR any combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Must successfully pass background check and polygraph. 

The ideal candidate will be an Human Resources professional with experience working in a Law Enforcement organization and experienced recruiter and background investigator. 

This position is safety sensitive. 

This position is exempt from overtime. Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.

• Considerable knowledge of:
- Principles, practices and standards of public sector human resource management
- Automated support systems, including specialized software
- Recruitment methods
- Principles and practices of office administration, management and supervision
- Interviewing techniques
- Obtaining, verifying and evaluating general and statistical information
- Records management
 
• Working knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of public administration
- Local, state and federal laws, guidelines and rules governing functional area
- Employee relations
 
• Ability to:
- Understand and operate equipment for assigned tasks
- Analyze complex problems and situations and suggest appropriate solutions
- Conduct detailed research and prepare reports and findings
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, County officials, other agencies, and the public
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Follow written and verbal instructions
